Top performersbooked for latestprogramme

Bognor Regis Music Club is looking forward to a wide and varied programme between now and Easter.

Club chairman Chris Coote is delighted at the programme that has come together.

On January 18, club member and pianist Margaret Lloyd is organising a concert of chamber works.

Performers include Gordon Egerton (clarinet), Bridget Knight and Alex Palmer (flutes), Graham Paul (trumpet), Colin Wilkins (violin), James Smith (viola) and Tim O’Leary (cello).

They will be playing works by Bach, Handel, Gluck, Haydn, Mozart, John Williams and Paul Reade. Piano accompaniment will be provided by Margaret Lloyd.

On February 1, the Brighton-based Palmeira string quartet will be playing works by Haydn, Mendelssohn and Shostakovich.

On February 15, the club welcomes young musicians from the Regis School of Music who will be performing under the direction of Nina and Sasha Levtov.

On March 1, club chairman Chris himself presents a varied programme of chamber and vocal music, including the Beethoven piano trio Op 11 and piano duets by Robert Schumann

On March 15, students of the University of Chichester music department will present a varied programme under the direction of Susan Legg, head of voice at the university.

The final concert of the term, on March 29, sees the return of Joseph Tong and Waka Hasegawa, widely regarded as one of the UK’s leading piano duos.

Chris said “We are particularly pleased to have such a varied programme this term, including two of our most popular concerts given by young students from The Regis School of Music and the Chichester University music department”

Concerts are at the Club’s concert room, 2 Sudley Road starting at 7.30pm.

Entry at the door is £6 or £7 for members (£8 or £9 for visitors).

Visitors are especially welcome at all the club’s concerts, Chris stressed.
