Steyning Music Society presents the fourth concert in its current season when it hosts a performance by award-winning concert pianist, Richard Uttley on Saturday, September 14,

Spokesman Gary Prior said: “An exceptionally versatile musician, over the last year Richard has performed Mozart with the Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra, Gershwin at the Queen Elizabeth Hall, Grieg at the Cadogan Hall, taken part in an Oliver Knussen Immersion Day at the Barbican and recorded works by Britten and American composers for BBC Radio 3.”

He has given recitals at major venues and festivals throughout the UK including the Wigmore Hall, The Sage Gateshead, the Nottingham International Piano Series, the Ryedale, Ribble Valley and Beverley Festivals.

Richard has also appeared at the Royal Festival Hall, Bridgewater Hall and Purcell Room, the City of London Festival, Lincolnshire International Chamber Music Festival and the Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival (Future Shorts).

Richard has won numerous prizes and awards, including first prizes in the Moray Piano Competition 2005, the British Contemporary Piano Competition 2006, and the Haverhill Sinfonia Soloist Competition 2011.

His concert for Steyning includes music by Schubert, Britten, Murail, Simpson and Brahms.

Saturday’s concert is at the Steyning Centre and begins at 7.30pm.
