Kaye Freeman, along with 15-month-old daughter Lilwen, cut the ribbon to the new lift in the Swan Walk store which can now fit up to four pushchairs.

She said: “One afternoon I was in town with a couple of friends and we come into Boots because we need to look at the baby stuff and it took us 15 minutes to reconvene up here.

“So I made a flippant comment on the Horsham Mummy Facebook page saying is anyone else driven made by this lift and I got a range of comments back saying it had been like that for 20 years and will never change.

“I mentioned it to my husband that night and he said I should do something about.”

The next day, Kaye started an online petition and received 150 signatures and was picked up by the manager and the issue was referred to head office.

Manager Dave Munn welcomed customers and the lift is now available to use.
