The golfers played eight rounds of golf and walked around 40 miles at West Sussex Golf Club between 2pm on Thursday, June 20, and 2.50pm on Friday, June 21.

“This is our fourth year doing this and is our record year and we really exceeded our expectations,” explained club member David Roblin.

“We only lost three balls in total all night it all worked really well, it was pretty seamless and everybody thoroughly enjoyed it.”

The team completed 150 holes in just over 24-hours to split all money raised between the Alzheimer’s Society and the Dame Vera Lynn Trust for Children with Cerebral Palsy which is based in Southwater.

“It was a huge achievement for the team,” continued the 46-year-old who lives in West Chiltington. “It really tested our mental and physical strength and I don’t think anyone can do more than that really.

“We had to keep changing socks to make sure we didn’t get blisters and things like that and I think the longest we had a break for was 45 minutes, but the biggest challenge was no sleep during the night.”

David’s role for the event was as running support and had use of two buggies. Players also had to carry their clubs throughout the whole course.

“At night myself and two others were doing all the logistics and moving the illuminous kit around the course as we went.”

The team were encouraged by the endless amount of support they received from club members, family and friends who visited throughout.

David added: “One man came out at half three in the morning so there was a lot of camaraderie.

“There was also a reception at the end where we were all met by club members to cheer everyone in before we all promptly fell asleep.”
