VIDEO: Master magician celebrates 35 years of illusion
‘Magic’ Martin Lewis, 63, of Downlands Avenue, is launching a fan club to celebrate his latest magical milestone.
Father-of-three Mr Lewis first picked up a magic set when he was 8 years old, but it wasn’t until later in life that he pursued it as a career. Mr Lewis worked as a firefighter in the RAF for five years before leaving and working in the fire service elsewhere.

He mostly caters for children, but also does a range of table and cabaret magic. Mr Lewis said: “I like to make parties special for the children.

Mr Lewis works all over the region, covering everywhere from Tunbridge Wells to Southampton.

Members of the new fan club will get a range of Magic Martin-branded items, as well as a newsletter and a discount on performances.
“This year is such a big celebration for Martin,” said ‘Tricky’ Nicky Lewis, Mr Lewis’ wife and assistant.
Mr Lewis has also been president of the Associated Conjurers of East Sussex (ACES) for the last ten years, having been present at the society’s inaugural meeting in 1992.
Always looking to update his repertoire, Mr Lewis is working on a cooking themed show, as well as a modern take on Tommy Cooper’s multiplying bottle trick.
