VIDEO: Police crack down on dangerous driving

Motorists must be on their best behaviour today as traffic officers are patrolling Horsham roads looking to snare drivers breaking the law.

The Road Policing Unit of Arundel were stationed along Brighton Road that leads into Horsham town centre this morning (April 3) to catch out driving offences like speeding and having no road tax.

PC John Lawson explained: “We’re performing a road safety check to make sure people are following the law, like using their seat belts and not talking on their mobile phones.”

Starting at 8am, during the morning rush hour, police ushered motorists onto Higgins Way who were caught dangerous driving.

PC Tony Crisp said: “We’ve changed the way we deal with motorists. We used to just give people a fine, now they can go on a training scheme, called the Driver Awareness Course.

“We we want to educate people.”

The officers were there for around an hour before moving on to a different location.
