The Pulborough Garden Society held its annual show in Pulborough Village Hall.

Barry Newman, the Royal Horticultural Society judge who assessed the flower classes, congratulated all exhibitors on getting their flowers ready to show in time after such adverse growing conditions in the winter.

The flower arranging, handicraft, home produce and photography sections were also well supported, and local children from St Mary’s School, the Pulborough Brownie pack and Beaver group provided a multitude of exhibits in the children’s section, the most striking being a five feet high multi-coloured paper flower created as combined effort by the children of Pulborough Pre-school.

At the end of the afternoon trophies and prizes were presented to the winners in each section by Mark Saunders, head gardener at Fittleworth House.

See this week’s South Downs edition of the County Times for photos from the show.
