PHOTOGRAPHY: Storrington Camera Club meets in the clubroom of the Storrington football club pavilion, located behind Chanctonbury Leisure Centre, Spierbridge Road, Storrington. A talk and demonstration on the Triggersmart system by Paul Berkeley. Wine glasses at the moment of shattering, insects alighting on flowers, balloons as they burst – all these can be photographed with the help of the Triggersmart System. FRIDAY

Walk: Two separate, circular HDC Health walks from Barns Green. Choose either 2 miles (1 hour) easy, mostly flat, or 4 miles (2 hours) some stiles, steep steps and a long hill. Can be muddy. All welcome, meet 11am, corner of the green near the Village Club. Peter A 01403 741305.

Coffee morning: Come for coffee, it’s for Macmillan. Hurst Bowls Club, South Avenue, Hurstpierpoint, from 10am to 12.30pm. Everyone welcome. SATURDAY

OXJAM: An all-day music festival will held at Savannah bar-cafe in Haywards Heath on Saturday for Oxfam. All proceeds of the £5 entry price go to the charity and there are 15 acts, starting with KRU and finishing with Stephanie Davies and The Super Dynamics. The event is part of the national Oxjam festival.

Catstravaganza: Cats Protection Horsham & District Branch will be holding this popular event at Roffey. Millennium Hall, Horsham from 2.30pm to 4.30pm. On sale will be books, CP gifts and goodies, home-made cakes, crafts, bric-a-brac and more, plus refreshments will be available. Our Tombola also makes a return with some great prizes. In addition we have an information table where you can find out more about our Branch and see a screen show of cats looking for homes. CHARITY: Macmillans Coffee Morning from 10am at the Oddfellows Arms, Lower Street, Pulborough. Cakes, refreshments, play area for the children, balloons for the children. There will also be a book sale.

COPTHORNE SILVER BAND: Following the success of their 110th anniversary Concert last year, Copthorne Silver Band will be revisiting St Johns Church, Copthorne on September 29 from 3pm to 5pm, for a concert featuring a range of music: ‘Film, Folk and Fantasy’. Under the new direction of Mr. Brian Cox (Lance Corporal of Horse in the Life Guards), the band are keen to make this an annual event. A prize draw will also be held to raise funds for St Catherines Hospice. Refreshments provided by St. Johns parishioners. Sussex Egyptology Society: An Egyptologist’s Year is the talk Egyptologist Dr Aiden Dodson will be presenting to the Sussex Egyptology Society. Aiden teaches Egyptology at the University of Bristol, where he is a Senior Research Fellow. He has published 15 books to date. He has lectured worldwide and has been guest Egyptologist on many tours of Egypt. The talk starts at 2pm, doors open at 1:30pm. Venue: Millais School, Depot Road, Horsham, West Sussex, RH13 5HR.
