What’s on over Easter Holiday Weekend

One of the biggest attractions over the Easter holiday period will be the annual Piazza Italia in Horsham.

Italian cars and motor bikes will be on show, and there will be stalls and lots of related fun for the whole family on Good Friday, Saturday and Easter Monday.

However, there’s plenty going on across all of Sussex and below are just a few of the events.

Good FRIDAY

WALK: All welcome. Meet in the car park at Southwater Country Park (off Cripplegate Lane) at 11am. Easy, flat, circular, sociable HDC Health Walk along bridleways, lanes and the Downs Link. 2½ miles. 1 hour. Jill 07780 701184.

GOOD Friday United Churches Walk of Witness. Meet at St Pancras Church, Lewes, 6pm April 18 for a walk to the Mound. All welcome.

SCAVENGER HUNT: Burgess Hill Scout Hut (5th): Family Scavenger Hunt. Mid Sussex District Explorers fundraising event. At least one person has to wear a scout scarf (we can loan you one). You will need to bring a camera. Prize for winners – Hamper full of Easter treats. Cost: £5 per team – maximum of six people. There needs to be a staggered start so contact Chris Donaldson to be given a time slot: [email protected]. There is limited parking available at the hut so please come on foot where possible.

EASTER CATSRAVAGANZA: Cats Protection Horsham and District Branch will be holding their Easter event at North Heath Hall, St. Marks Lane, from 2pm to 4pm. They will be holding a raffle with the star prize of a Family Size Marbled Egg (1.25kg) donated by Cocoa Loco plus lots of other great prizes. Plus there will be home-made cakes, CP gifts and goodies, craft items, books, toys and games, CDs and DVDs, bric-a-brac etc. and refreshments will be available. MANNINGS HEATH Horticultural Society have their Spring Flower Show in the village Hall. It is open to non members and staging is between 1pm and 2pm. It is then open to the public from 3pm to 4.15pm.

CHARITY Plant Sale at Westgate Chapel, Lewes, 10am-2pm April 19. Free entry. Fundraising for Oyster project.

FUN Day at Ringmer Shopping Parade, 10am-1pm April 19. Free event. Entertainment, food, drink and prizes for all ages.

Organised by Transition Chichester; bring along any unwanted items you have – including books, DVDs, garden tools, clothes, toys and baby equipment and home-wares – and pick up any treasure that catch the eye. No money changes hands. There will be Easter treats too, with the chance to win an Easter cake, free mini eggs and an egg hunt for children among the swap shop items.

MUSIC: An Evening with Jo Harman and Company (Full Band) in association with Yellow Fish Hutchins Charity Foundation. At Coolham Village Hall, RH13 8QN. OPEN DAY: Chichester and District Society of Model Engineers will be holding their first “Steam on Sunday” Open Afternoon on Sunday, 20 April, between 2pm and 5pm at their site in Blackberry Lane, off Bognor Road, in Chichester (East), West Sussex PO19 7FS. Train Rides will be offered to visitors behind several different miniature Diesel and Steam powered locomotives, including Winnie, who was mentioned in ‘Looking Back’, in The Chichester Observer last week. A selection of light refreshments will also be on sale. Tickets for rides on the trains will be £1 each, for adults or children; but admission to the site is free. PRAM race at Bolney. Bolney’s annual test of men (and women), machine, stamina and a touch of madness. Various Live Bands, Face Painting, Bouncy Castle, Hog Roast, Price Draw plus much much more. The fun kicks off at noon with the children’s race, with the Adult Mayhem following at around 1pm.

CAR BOOT SALE: Storrington and Pulborough District Rotary Club’s popular event for buyers and sellers. Lots of bric-a-brac, plants, books, clothes and curios will be on sale in Storrington Library car park from 8am until 12pm. Free for buyers.
