Wide range of artwork at autumn show

The East Sussex Art Club’s Autumn Exhibition 2013 will be taking place at the Stade Hall, Hastings, from October 9 to 13.

This year’s Spring Exhibition attracted more than 800 visitors to see an eclectic mixture of paintings and craft works created by members of the club, and the latest show promises to be no less extraordinary.

Open from 11am to 4pm each day, with free admission, the exhibition provides the public with an opportunity to see work from some talented local artists.

The Club was formed in around 1890, although the first report in the Observer was not until 1907, when an exhibition of work by the club’s members was reviewed and the paper commented that the club had changed its name from “The Students Art Club” to its present one.

From the outset, its aims have been to promote the study of art and encourage local artists to explore and expand their talents.
