WORK by a Horsham artist has been selected from more than 500 entries to appear alongside paintings by some of Britain’s leading figurative artists.

Angela Brittain has had two paintings selected.

Angela said: “My paintings explore the different perspectives people have in a given situation or are observations of life, often injecting wry humour.

“Divided Dreams depicts a couple whose aspirations for the future are at odds whilst The Notes Carried On The Wind is a role reversal between the cat and its owner but both are in harmony, sharing a special moment.

“Funnily enough, I was planning the second painting whilst I was at the Park Barn in Horsham during the Horsham Open Studio weekends in June and someone bought one of my early sketches for it for £5!”

The Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition is at the Mall Galleries near Trafalgar Square between December 8 and 19. Founded in 1882, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters chooses the best submissions in oil-based media from national and international submissions. Today, the Institute supports emerging painters by offering a range of prizes and awards to exhibitors at the exhibition.
