Appeal launched as Eastbourne builder is left with life changing injuries after accident

Sean Foley, who has two young daughters, broke his neck and severely damaged his spine in the freak accident on May 16.

Sean, 59, was rushed to the Brighton major trauma unit and spent time in the intensive care unit at the DGH before moving to Stoke Mandeville, where he remains.

Sean’s partner Daniella Watson said Sean is currently in an electric wheelchair and while he can talk and move his upper body, he is trying to get movement back in his arms.

But to Covid-19, the builder, who works for G C Building and Preservation, is only receiving four hours of physiotherapy each week instead of two to four hours a day.

Now family and friends have launched a fundraising appeal to help pay for private physio sessions as well as adaptations to his home in Old Town.

Daniella said, “Sean is really hoping to get home for Christmas which will be unlikely on his current care plan. We are wanting to raise funds for private physio and help with renovations in the house for wheelchair access. Any help would be greatly appreciated so he can get home to his girls as soon as we can.”

Already, more than £11,000 has been raised and his family, colleagues and many friends are hoping to organise some fundraising events in the coming weeks.

In addition to the online appeal at GoFundMe entitled Let’s get Foley home, collection boxes have been placed in his local pubs, The Lamb, the Prince Albert and also at Sainsbury’s in Victoria Drive and Nisa in Green Street.
