Shiplu Tandoori, in London Road, will remain closed until further notice.

Owner Abul Azad said the decision was made as he believes it is their duty to ensure that all health and safety measures are met for customers to dine inside the restaurant before they open again.

The restaurants takeaway service will continue to run as usual, he added.

Mr Azad said: “Our understanding of the government guidelines is that restaurants will be able to open again after the 4th July.

“However after careful consideration, Shiplu have made the decision to remain closed until further notice. While the spread of Covid has been decreasing, we still believe it is our duty to ensure that all health and safety measures are met for customers to dine inside our restaurant before we open again.

“Our takeaway service will still be running as usual, providing that hygiene standards are more regulated. You can order via telephone on 01424219159 or through JustEat.com. We provide free home deliveries from 5pm onwards, and our menu is available to view online on our website and social media.

“Thank you once again to our customers for the cooperation, we really appreciate the support during this difficult time.”
