Bognor Regis shop shuts for the last time

One of the longest-serving business couples in Bognor Regis town centre closed their shop for the last time this week.

Trudy and Martin Reynolds locked up Fotos and Frames for the last time on Thursday (April 5).

They have run the photographic developing and print and picture frame business in Station Road for 16 years.

Before that, Martin was at Jaysound hi-fi shop, in Waterloo Square, and Judy at the Fast Forward video shop, in West Street, from 1988.

Judy, 59, said: “We are retiring. Trade has been declining since bigger shops moved in but it was our decision to go. We could have carried on.

“I think the people who are going to miss us most are the artists and photographers who buy our frames and mounts for their works.

“There doesn’t seem to be anyone else in the town that is taking up that side of the business. It’s a shame for the town that will no longer be here.”

Martin, 61, said: “We have prided ourselves on our service. We have put that first and you won’t get that in a bigger shop.”

The couple have been given gifts by customers. “We’ll miss seeing them. Some who were children are now coming in with their children,” said Judy.

The Aldwick couple will spend their spare time travelling. Their shop has been bought by the expanding Johnston Domestic Appliances.
