Andrew Mosley, general manager of The Grand Brighton, said: “Afternoon tea is something of a tradition at The Grand Brighton and plays an important part in our history and heritage. Our menus, designed by our executive chef Alan White, reflect our identity and famous seaside setting. It really is a celebration of not only tea and scones, but of the glorious traditions that form part of this famous ritual.

“We continuously seek to improve the guest experience at The Grand Brighton which is why in 2016, we invested in and refurbished our Victoria Terrace, where our afternoon Tea is served. This nomination highlights that this approach is paying dividends and we are already looking forward to the Awards ceremony in April.”

Sally Balcombe, VisitEngland chief executive, said: “The awards shine a spotlight on an industry driven by the highest-calibre people and organisations who deliver unforgettable experiences for visitors, raising the profile of England as a world-class destination and driving the economic benefits of tourism across the regions.

“Awards for Excellence finalists exemplify outstanding tourism talent and distinguished businesses throughout England. We received over 600 truly impressive applications this year and there’s absolutely no doubt that the finalists represent the very best in the industry. I’d like to congratulate all finalists and wish them the very best of luck.”
