Haven, which operates the Church Farm caravan site in Pagham, has 26 job opportunities available across its food and beverage, activities and leisure, HR, and retail departments. Butlins Bognor Regis meanwhile, has 30 roles available in many of the same areas, including resort safety and facilities.
The opportunities are available through a government Kickstart Scheme which targets 16 to 24 year-olds at risk of long term unemployment and living on universal credit. Both companies are owned by Bourne Leisure, a leader in the UK domestic holiday market, which employers more than 16,000 staff nationwide. Full training will be provided, so applicants will not be expected to have prior experience.
“We understand how hard the pandemic has been for everyone, especially those trying to get into work,” said Paul Flaum, chief executive of bourne leisure. “As a result of Covid, we have increased the number of roles we have available, particularly on our parks and resorts and are now looking to recruit people to a number of these roles via the kickstart programme.
The roles will be for a minimum of 25 hours a week over a six month placement period, providing applicants with a chance to gain solid work experience and set them up for successful careers in the future.
“While kickstart will help young people get into employment, we want to make sure they are equipped to be able to continue their work journey beyond the initial placement and we feel that providing them with additional skills training will help them to succeed,” Mr Flaum said. “This is an exciting time to be part of the UK holiday industry but, wherever their work journey takes them, we believe this will provide the perfect kickstart to their future careers.”
The roles are available now via the DWP and those on universal credit can apply via their local centres.
