A unit within Dawber Buildings in Diplocks Way is expected to become a car repair workshop, according to plans submitted to Wealden District Council.

The site is owned by DSC Supplies Ltd and was used for pet food and animal feed, but is now vacant.

DSC still owns the unit and is allowing the plans to be submitted to change it into a car workshop.

Plans would see the removal of part of the mezzanine floor to accommodate the vehicle lift, but no external building work is planned.

Planners say in their documents, “It is our belief that the proposed works and the change of use will give an opportunity to provide both a service to the public and facilitate employment without detriment to the neighbouring properties or street scene.

“The adjoining neighbour will be consulted and shown draft copies of the plans and elevations.”

Members of the public can comment on the plans until April 28.
