An application has been submitted to Adur and Worthing councils to change the use of 12 Chapel Road from office use to residential. Permission must be sought because the building is located in a conservation area.

Under the plans, the first and second floor offices would be converted into eight self-contained studio flats.

Neighbours have been informed of the application.

Chris Barker, managing director of ECE Planning, which would carry out the work, said the flats would be marketed at first time buyers and for rental.

If approval is granted development could start later this year, with construction taking about six months.

Members of the public have until August 30 to make representations for or against the planning application, which can be viewed online. This can be done in writing or on the Worthing and Adur councils’ website.
