Tennyson Insurance, in Drayton Lane, has donated £7,340 to Service Dogs UK as part of its ‘Rescue a Dog – Help a Veteran’ dog sponsorship campaign.

Tennyson’s donation will directly help with veteran Dave Bradbury and his dog Logi’s journey together until they have completed the charity’s training programme.

Garry Botterill, co-founder of the Fareham charity, said: “The team at Tennyson Insurance have been amazing. They have undertaken loads of activities to raise funds for us including bring your dog to work days, Christmas jumper days, quiz nights, dog walks, ten-mile runs and even abseiling off of the Spinnaker Tower!”

“They are the first group to individually sponsor one of our dogs and we look forward to providing updates of Dave and Logi’s journey together.”

Service Dogs UK provides specially trained dogs to veterans from the armed forces and emergency services diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The charity pairs dogs from rescue centres with veterans who then take part in a nine-month programme where they teach the dogs under expert guidance.

Service Dogs UK is funded by donations and volunteers hosting events.

The money from the ‘Rescue a Dog - Help a Veteran’ sponsorships will be used to get dogs off to a great start with all the equipment, food, insurance and training it will need for the first nine to 12 months up until it becomes accredited.

Garry said: “I think it is brilliant that we now have this relationship and that ‘Rescue a dog – help a Veteran’ helps people see clearly how the funds raised changes lives for the better.”
