Roman opened in the heart of Swan Walk Shopping Centre on Saturday March 1 and has been busy even since. It is the latest business to feature in the County Times’ Shop Local Campaign.

Store manager Nicola Ferdinando said: “Roman is a family business which has been around since the fifties. It’s rapidly growing and opening more stores.

“I’ve been working in Horsham for many years as a manager of another store and just started working for Roman.

“It’s brilliant. It’s for all ages and at a reasonable price. It does dress casual options or formal wear. At the front we’ve got dresses for 18-year-olds and here we’ve got dresses for 80-year-olds. That’s why it fits the needs of our customers.”

Speaking to the County Times in the first week of opening, Nicola, who has lived in Horsham for 15 years, added it had proved popular.

“All the regular customers have been really good. That’s what’s special about Horsham - the regular customers.

“They’ve been amazing and really positive. I would say 70 to 80 per cent of people who have come in have bought something.”

Manager of Swan Walk Gill Buchanan said: “We are delighted to be able to offer our customers more fashion in the centre, something that we know is important to them.

“It is great to have yet another brand choice reinforcing that Horsham is really a great shopping and eating destination. Following the launch of the West Sussex County Times’ campaign to support local towns, this is great news and I am confident that they will be the first of many new openings in 2014.”
