The aim is to promote their attractions to residents and visitors alike as they emerge from lockdown. Andrew’s Pub Guide can be found at www.southdownspubs.com and it already showcases more than 30 local pubs with details of their unique characteristics, facilities, photographs and location.
After pubs fully reopen in May, Andrew plans to launch a printed version of the guide which will be distributed to visitors’ centers, tourism hubs and libraries.
Mr Griffith said: “The last year has been difficult for everyone, but none more so than the hospitality industry and our wonderful local pubs.
Whilst there has been Government support for the industry, I wanted to do everything I could to give some practical support locally. We need to get residents back into the habit of going out regularly as well as reminding visitors of the wonderful pubs we have here in West Sussex.”
Carole Austin from The George & Dragon, Houghton, said: “At The George &Dragon, we are grateful for the tremendous support
we have received from both the Government and from Andrew who has fought our corner through what has been a terrible year for us all.
“The Pub Guide is a great idea and hopefully will encourage customers back to what is a British institution – the local pub!”
Tom Richardson from The Three Moles, Selham, said: “The last year has been challenging for everyone in the hospitality industry, but we have managed to survive with support from the Government, and from some very generous local residents.
“It is extremely encouraging to know that our local MP is so supportive of pubs, and we are grateful to be featured in the Pub Guide.”
