Borde Hill Garden running rose talks this summer

This summer, the roses in Borde Hill Garden are set to look more spectacular than ever with the addition of nine more David Austin varieties to celebrate the Rose Garden’s 25th anniversary.

The new roses added for this year are the Queen of Sweden, Vanessa Bell, Olivia Rose Austin, Charlotte, The Poet’s Wife, Spirit of Freedom, Royal William, Mme Alfred Carriere and Compassion.

As part of the garden’s rose celebration weeks from Monday, June 14 to Friday, June 25, visitors can pre-book a half-hour tour by head gardener, Andy Stevens, on Tuesday, June 15 or Tuesday, June 22, at 12pm or 2pm, for £4 on top of the garden entry price.

In addition, one of the country’s leading experts, Michael Marriott, will give a talk, ‘Growing the Most Beautiful Roses’, on Friday, June 18 from 10.30am to 1pm.

Michael will help you to plan and nurture a beautiful rose garden, with advice on everything from choosing the right rose for your garden, to pruning, fragrance and colour combinations.

Following the talk, join Michael Marriott and Andy Stevens for a guided tour of Borde Hill’s Rose Garden at its peak.

Tickets cost £39.50, or £31.60 for Friends of Borde Hill.
