It has been a busy week at Fulford Care Home, in East Street, as it has opened its doors for the first visitors since the government restrictions lifted on Monday.

Kim Maw, registered manager, said: “We’ve had a great first week at Fulford Care Home under the new visit guidelines and have been really busy welcoming people every single day.

“The vaccine roll-out and gradual easing of visit restrictions is a great boost for residents and their families, as well as all for our team, following a challenging 12 months for everyone.

“We strive to ensure that Fulford is a place where our existing and new residents feel content each and every day in a safe and happy home, and visits are a really important part of that.”

One of the first visitors to Fulford Care Home was Linda Wilson, who said she was ‘over the moon’ to be reunited with her mother Heather Calloway.

Latest figures show 100 per cent of residents at the home have received one of the new vaccinations and the home, managed by independent care provider Agincare, is currently Covid free.

Staff continue to carry out regular testing and follow latest government guidance on PPE, hygiene and visits.

Tim Buckley, care homes chief operating officer, said: “We know just how treasured visits are by our residents, their loved ones and our care home teams, and we have already been facilitating safe visits wherever possible during the pandemic, even before the latest government announcement.

“The vaccination roll-out of residents at Fulford Care Home is great news and very pleasing indeed. Agincare is working daily with local authorities and NHS teams to ensure any new care home residents are vaccinated as soon as they are able, as well as any remaining care workers across our homes nationwide.”
