‘Delight’ as customer numbers triple for Horsham shopping centre on first day of lockdown easing

Customer numbers tripled week on week at Horsham’s shopping centre as non-essential retail stores reopened.

Gill Buchanan, shopping centre manager at Swan Walk said her team was ‘delighted’ to see all retailers open on April 12 after lockdown restrictions eased.

She added: “Swan Walk saw three times as many customers as the previous Monday.

“There was high demand for fashion, fashion accessories and beauty services in particular and as such there were some queues to enter stores at peak times.”

But she said at no point did the centre go over capacity and staff did not have to pause entry to Swan Walk.

Gill added: “We know that this is a nervous time for some of our customers returning to the centre for the first time in a few months and we would encourage those wishing to avoid long queues and shop at quieter times to shop from 3.00pm until 5.30pm.”
