The police facility at 1 Grove Road was temporarily closed during the coronavirus pandemic, but the force says it is now ready to re-open after being made Covid-19 secure.

Screens have been put in place between police staff and the public, and a maximum of two people or two social bubbles will be allowed inside at any one time to ensure the premises complies with the government’s current coronavirus regulations.

The front office will be open to the public from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Saturday.

A spokesperson at Sussex Police said, “As Eastbourne council will be moving out of 1 Grove Road it will not be reopening its front desk here, but is looking at alternative locations in the town centre. In the meantime residents wishing to contact the council are asked to continue to do this via their website www.lewes-eastbourne.gov.uk/contact-us.

“From Monday (August 24), Seaford Police Station and Lewes Police Station will revert to opening hours of 10am to 2pm, Monday to Friday. The Sussex Police front office in Newhaven remains closed at this time.

“Seaford and Lewes police stations will no longer deal with enquiries relating to the seizure of vehicles being driven with no insurance. These enquiries should be directed to the Eastbourne town centre front office.”
