Creative agency RMV Productions made the animated music video for Mexican duo Rodrigo y Gabriela featuring the soccer star. The track, written by Pele and staring his vocals, is about a time when the Brazillian football team consulted a shaman to curse their rivals and help them win.

Peter Reeve, owner of the firm, said: “We were amazed to have the opportunity to work with one of the best footaballers ever and an Emmy award winning duo. I couldn’t quite believe it.”

The animated music video features cartoon versions of Rodrigo and Gabriele, an internationally renowned Mexican acoustic guitar duo. Pele, who celebrated his 80th birthday on Friday, October 23, also features alongside the character of the old man, ‘The Saint’ to whom Pele and the team provide gifts in an attempt to curse their opponents and win more games!

Unbelievably this is a true story, Peter told the County Times. He added: “Although as you can see from the archive footage, supplied by FIFA, it doesn’t always work out – with Pele seen missing some howlers! “

“I’ve written many books, I’ve scored many goals, I’ve fathered children, I’ve planted many trees. The only thing that’s lacking is a musical memento of my life,” said the Brazilian legend.

He added: “I wrote this one because when I used to play with Santos, the coach used to say that when we lost it was the players’ fault, but when we won it was the macumba (magic) had helped.

“The song is joking about that - of course, macumba doesn’t win games at all.”
