Horsham salon apprentice shares her dreams for the future

Liv Neal is an apprentice at Studio 2, she started as a Saturday girl in June 2017 and then began her apprenticeship in September 2018.

She is soon to be taking her end point assessment at the end of October and when she passes, she will be a fully qualified stylist!

Studio owner, Mandy Masters and her 22 strong team at Studio 2 attribute their success to a friendly welcoming atmosphere, listening to the client and investment in staff. Quick to praise Liv’s work, Mandy said: “Liv is an integral part of the team, and we’ve loved watching her grow from Saturday girl into the talented stylist she is!”

How did you decide on this career?

I had just finished college and wanted to start something new. I have always been creative and wanted to express that, and love beauty so hair seemed like a natural fit.

How does a normal day usually go?

My day begins by prepping the salon for the day ahead this involves ensuring everything is clean and tidy ready to welcome our guests. I will then greet clients and make refreshments, throughout the day I will answer the phone, arrange appointments, wash client’s hair and assist the senior stylists. It’s full on and fast paced but that suits me, as I enjoy keeping busy! The day ends with cleaning down for the day and ensuring everything is ready for tomorrow.

What gives you the most job satisfaction?

I like seeing people happy and making a difference in people’s day!

Where do you see yourself in five years?

I would like to go into stage hair and makeup so I’m hoping to expand my skillset and continue learning after I finish my apprenticeship.
