On Wednesday (October 14) The Malt Shovel in Springfield Road said in a notice to customers that due to a member of its household having had a cough since Sunday, they made the decision to close the pub until the results of a Covid-19 test had come back.

The notice said the business had decided to ‘err on the side of caution rather than greed’.

It said: “Got a negative result back this morning. Business as usual. Plenty of craft ales, delicious pizza and beer tapas available. All with friendly table service and certified COVID free. Thanks for your support and kind words.”
