Major Horsham employer in talks over takeover deal

A leading company which is one of Horsham’s major employers is in talks over a possible £7.2 billion takeover deal.

The RSA Insurance Group, whose headquarters are at St Mark’s Court in Chart Way, Horsham, has confirmed it is in talks with Canadian insurer Intact Financial Corporation and Danish insurer Tryg.

RSA, the owner of the More Than insurance brand, is one of the FTSE 100’s oldest companies and employs hundreds of people in Horsham.

In a statement, the company said its talks “may or may not lead to an offer being made for RSA.”

If it does go ahead, Intact would retain RSA’s Canada and UK & Internationaloperations, while Tryg would retain RSA’s Sweden and Norway operations, and Intact and Trygwould co-own RSA’s Denmark business.

The Board of RSA has indicated that it would be ‘minded to recommend the proposal’ but said: “There can be no certainty that an offer will be made.”
