House builder Taylor Wimpey is currently drawing up plans for up to 170 new homes on land located on the north-eastern fringes of the town.

The site is bordered by the A27 Polegate Bypass to the north, Highgrove Crescent to the south and Shepham Lane to the west.

The developer says that if the outline planning application receives planning consent from Wealden District Council, it will establish the principle of developing the land.

The proposals include a proportion of affordable properties, public open space, parking, and cycle and pedestrian connections, while vehicle access would be via Highgrove Crescent.

Due to the lockdown, Taylor Wimpey will be holding a public consultation for the proposals online, between Monday November 16 and Friday December 11. Visitors to the consultation website will be able to view the plans and provide their feedback, before an outline planning application is submitted to Wealden council.

A spokesperson for Taylor Wimpey said: “As a considerate, responsible developer, we want to give people the chance to have their say on development plans for their area.
