The application (SDNP/20/02569/FUL) was submitted earlier this month and is for the change of use of an outbuilding for a craft ale micro-brewery in Burton Park Road, in Duncton.

Part of the plans state that the applicant intends for the brewery to have 'small-scale approach' with a low carbon footprint.

It says this is achievable by supplying to local pubs, farmer's markets and shops.

Duncton Parish Council has not objected to the plans but the chairman of the planning committee, cllr Hillary O'Sullivan, outlined a number of concerns raise by the council.

Writing to the South Downs National Park planning authority, cllr, O'Sullivan said: “Whilst Duncton Parish Ccouncil does not object to this application in principal, the information submitted with the application was somewhat scarce operational arrangements.

"We have concerns around three areas, and suggest that greater clarification is sought fropm the applicant and conditions associated with any grant of permission relating to these issues attach to any permission granted to ensure the use is consistent with the residential/rural nature of the location."

One of the issues listed by the council included conerns over the disposal of spent barley and hops and the possibility of attracting rats. The applicant said spent barley would be given or sold to farmers and spent hops burned.

The other two concerns raised included a constraint on operating times and increased traffic in the area.
