Morrisons Littlehampton dishes out treats in the community

Morrisons Littlehampton has treated residents at a nearby nursing home to afternoon tea. Alison Whitburn, community champion, arranged the donation of scones, jam, cream and cakes for 60 residents and staff at Fulford, in East Street. She explained: “Kim Maw, the manager said they needed cheering up, so I came up with the idea of providing afternoon tea. It’s so good that we can make a difference in the community doing things like this.”

Another recent donation was a handmade wheatsheaf for harvest, presented to All Saints Church in Wick. Alison said: “Our baker David Pope created the traditional bread for Father Tom Robson, as they are planning to do an online harvest service in partnership with the foodbank and to do a collection for them. He is also hoping to do some online harvest assemblies for some of the local schools and he can use the wheatsheaf in all the videos.”

The store does a lot of fundraising for CLIC Sargent and a recent raffle saw a regular customer win a trolley of shopping. A lady called Sally also won a giant teddy but she has decided to donate it to Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice. This was followed by a raffle and tombola stall in store, the first event of its kind since February, and this raised £450.
