They said: "We got a subscription because we wanted to support the paper.

"The key thing about the paper is it is a good source of local information - in a single easy to use format. Most of the news in it is not reported elsewhere."

Alan Craft owns Craft News in Shoreham, one of the places you can pick up the paper.

Editor Gary Shipton said: "The need for trusted local news has never been greater. Our journalists are trained to the highest standards in accordance with the NCTJ, all our stories are independently regulated by IPSO, and we are legally and ethically responsible for everything we publish. Our mission is to hold those in authority to account while supporting our communities to ensure they remain the very best places in which to work and live. But we cannot do it without the support of readers.

"The pandemic has seen a dramatic reduction in advertising and we are hugely dependent on readers purchasing a copy of the newspaper each and every week.

"So in taking out a subscription you are not only guaranteeing yourself a terrific read every week in a title packed with local news and information as well as a wonderful puzzles section - but you are also helping to fund independent journalism which is the cornerstone of local democracy. So on behalf of all our journalists I cannot thank you enough for your help and support."

If you subscribe you can save 20 per cent, most retailers will accept the vouchers but they may charge a delivery fee.
