Arundel’s shops, restaurants, bars, cafes and attractions have all pooled their talents to create the vibrant new film commissioned and arranged by Arundel Chamber of Commerce.

The aim is to give the town a boost after months of staying open for business in the midst of the Covid crisis and to support keeping the town going now that the summer holidays are over and autumn is setting in.

Sharon Blaikie, chairman of Arundel Chamber of Commerce explains: “Following the successful filming of businesses for the Virtual Arundel Festival of the Arts at the end of August, we recognised the power of video, particularly during these continually evolving and challenging times, so we wanted to ensure more professional filming would happen soon in the lead up to Arundel is Christmas.

“We wanted to show the world that we are open, safe and offering some great experiences for everyone to enjoy, highlighting the shopping, eating, drinking and abundance of wonderful outdoor space that Arundel has to offer including Swanbourne Lake, the Wetlands and the Castle.

“With restrictions on foreign travel, there is a demand for winter tourism destinations and so it was important for the Chamber to keep our community-spirited town in people’s minds as well as link with other partners, campaigns and tourism bodies in order to reach a broader audience.

“The Chamber are so grateful to Jane and beechtobeach for making this brilliant film, for everyone who has been involved including support from Visit Arundel.

“Arundel is an entrepreneurial hub that promotes authenticity with attractive independent shops, bars, restaurants, cafes, galleries, attractions, places to stay, outdoor activities, a wealth of things to do and a top destination that is steeped in history with thriving art and culture for visitors and residents throughout the year.

“The Chamber are striving to boost consumer confidence, footfall and spend in the local economy as well as an increase in dwelling times, create excitement about Arundel and encourage new businesses to locate here. We hope people will be energised to try a few new and different experiences as well as support the town.”

Jane Mote, director of the Arundel media production company beechtobeach, scripted the film and videographer Josh Kershaw shot and edited it.

Jane said: “The businesses in Arundel have worked so hard to stay there for us all since the Covid crisis started, so we were delighted to be asked to capture their energy and professionalism in this video as well as convey the unique beauty of this historic town.

“The business owners are the stars. They delivered their lines brilliantly – with the help of props and, in one case, four-legged friends! Hopefully this film will help inspire residents and visitors alike to enjoy Arundel – safely – in the months ahead."

Arundel Is Here For You is the start of the'Arundel is Christmas campaign which will replace Arundel by Candlelight for this year.
