New lease of life for troubled Eastbourne hotel
The Heatherleigh Hotel in Royal Parade has now been converted into more than 20 one and two bedroom residential flats.
Heatherleigh Developments Limited is behind the complete refurbishment of the hotel, which, prior to the conversion, had been closed for several months, was labelled an eyesore and at the centre of a lengthy planning battle between the council and developers.

Hide AdA spokesperson at Heatherleigh Developments Limited said this week the refurbishment was subject to a local labour agreement supporting Eastbourne businesses and people.
To enable ongoing assistance to those looking for employment in the construction industry, Heatherleigh Developments also made a £750 donation to the People Matter charity in Saffrons Road which offers support to anyone aged 19 years and above.
Jim Murray, the chair of Eastbourne’s planning committee, said, “To support local people and businesses, the council secures employment and training obligations on developments in Eastbourne. I am pleased the Heatherleigh development has made a positive contribution to the local economy.”
