A Post Office spokesman confirmed: "The premises where the Post Office is, is undergoing a complete refurbished. It will be a coffee shop, some retail and a Post Office counter alongside the retail counter."

During the closure, alternative branches include County Oak Post Office, 350 Carden Avenue, Brighton, and Hollingbury Post Office, 148 Preston Drove, Brighton.

Graham Brander, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work. The safety of our customers is of paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it will be necessary for the service to close temporarily. The new-look branch will be open longer hours than before.”

The spokesman confirmed the mini market next door is a completely separate business and is not part of the refurbishment plans.
