Sami Joseph took over as postmaster at 43 Southwick Square on February 16 and since then the shop and post office has had to be closed twice for refurbishment.

With the final stage completed, the post office opened this morning and will now be operating the new hours of 9am to 6pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 4pm Saturday.

Graham Brander, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work.

“Customers now have a modern Post Office and shop and the branch is open longer hours than before.”

The first stage of works in February involved a major refurbishment of the retail side of the business.

The second stage involved improving the Post Office.
