Southwick to get new postmaster after shop refit

Southwick Post Office will be getting a new postmaster after closing for two weeks for refurbishment.

The Post Office said opening hours had been disrupted due to the coronavirus pandemic in recent few weeks.

But modernising the branch would mean longer hours to look forward to in future, with a new postmaster and modern retail environment.

“The branch is also due to be taken over soon by a new postmaster, who is to undertake major refurbishment work on the retail side of the business.”

The post office, in Southwick Square, will close on Tuesday, February 9, at 3pm and remain closed until Monday, February 22, when it will reopen at 9am.

The Post Office opening times will be Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm, and Saturday, 9am to 4pm.

There are plans to refurbish the Post Office in a second stage later this year.

Graham Brander, Post Office network provision lead, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused to our customers during the work. The safety of our customers is paramount, therefore, to allow for the building work to take place, it will be necessary for the service to close temporarily.”

The nearest post offices in the meantime are Mansell Road and Shoreham High Street.
