The Hornet Alehouse in The Hornet will open from 12pm to 8pm everyday but will not operate as a pub for the time being.

Instead, the micro-pub will offer a retail service with two-pint carry out, canned beer and bottles of wine.

It will also offer a delivery service to people living in Chichester.

Owner Glenn Johnson said it was 'impossible to say' what the effects may be but said: "We will be offering ten per cent discount on cask beer and free delivery in Chichester.

"We will do this as long as we have to."

The beer delivery driver will also be happy to stop at convenience stores to pick up essentials for elderly residents who are unable to leave their home.
