The plans to change Little Torch, a former holiday and retreat centre, into the new homes were approved unanimously by Mid Sussex District Council on March 11.

A spokesman for Developer Martin Homes Hurstpierpoint Ltd said: “We believe that the future residents of this development will enjoy the stunning views of the South Downs and the village feel of Hurstpierpoint.

“When we acquired the site, the previous owners had left behind furniture, kitchen equipment and other items. It is our intention to sell these items and donate the money made to charity, so if anyone is interested by this then please get in touch.”

Little Torch closed in 2019. To view the application, log on to pa.midsussex.gov.uk and search for DM/20/4426.
