East Sussex farm estate wins Best Private Country Retreat 2020

A farm retreat near Mayfield has been crowned one of the best after winning the title of Best Private Country Retreat 2020.

The rural, independent business, Fair Oak Farm, was recognised with the title at the LUX Travel and Tourism Awards.

A multitude of awards have been earned by the venue, which was also recognised for its outstanding customer service at the Celebration of Sussex Life Awards.

Owner and co-founder, Ian Ledger, gave up his full-time job to run the business with his wife, Penny.

He said: “Winning ‘Best Private Country Retreat 2020’ and also the award for ‘LUX Customer Service Excellence’, means international recognition which is great for the community in and around Mayfield village and also for the region in East Sussex.”

Guests at Fair Oak Farm, from corporate groups, to friends and family, have exclusive use of the private country estate during their stay.

The venue is popular with wellbeing retreat organisers and has been hired out by Made in Chelsea’s ‘Binky’ Felsted who uses the venue for her fitness retreats.

Judges at the LUX awards said: “These global awards are judged purely on merit and recognise those who have dedicated themselves to offering the finest experiences, products and services in the industry.”
