The season of concerts at the iconic seafront landmark is normally opened on Easter Sunday by the Eastbourne Silver Band.

But the event has been cancelled and after a major search for a location, the musicians have decided to busk and play a few mini-concerts along the promenade starting with one at the new Bistrot Pierre restaurant.

The band’s Keith Marshall said, “Members of the band can, at times, prove to be a stubborn lot in the face of adversity and, to a large extent, they do like to maintain traditions.

“The plan that the band has in mind, as long as the weather is kind, is to play a few mini-concerts at selected locations along the promenade during the Easter Sunday afternoon. Currently they are still seeking to identify, and gain permission, to use a few sites between Eastbourne Pier and the Western Lawns, but one has already been identified and agreed.

“As long as the weather does not foil the band’s plans then you will be able to hear it at Bistrot Pierre by the Wish Tower during Easter afternoon.

“So, for the first time in the history of the band, it will be resorting to busking the Easter Sunday afternoon away.

“If you are strolling along the promenade and happen to see the band, give them a wave of encouragement and, if you enjoy good music, linger a while and enjoy the busking.”
