Eastbourne supermarket presents local charity with cheque

Waitrose Eastbourne has handed a cheque over to a charity that helps people with hearing loss.

A cheque of £333 was presented by Waitrose to the charity East Sussex Hearing.

The charity helps those with deafness and hearing loss across the county.

Throughout Covid-19 it has continued its valued outreach visits, supporting and installing hearing equipment, along with hearing aid maintenance and general hearing advice.

David Rowan, chief executive officer for East Sussex Hearing, said at the cheque presentation, “As a small charity we rely heavily on donations from both individuals and the business community.

“This kind donation from Waitrose will go a long way in supporting our new British sign language classes starting in October.”

Waitrose’s Community Matters scheme leader Jo Phillips said, “We are delighted to be support local charities and good causes.

“Community Matters is delighted to help East Sussex Hearing and the valuable work they do.”
