A major supermarket in Eastbourne is closing to the public for four months while it has a makeover.

Lidl in Seaside, will be closed from May 5.

Store bosses plan to reopen the store late summer, a statement from the supermarket said.

A spokesperson for Lidl said the upgrade will ‘see an overall improvement to customer experience’ and include work on the car park and lighting, as well as improvements on the landscaping.

New heating and ventilation systems, and bicycle storage hoops will also be added.

The spokesperson said staff will be moved to nearby stores while the work is carried out.

Lidl GB’s regional head of property, Adam Forsdick, said, “We’re extremely excited for work to now begin so that we may bring the local community an even better Lidl shopping experience.

“We are grateful for all the support that we have received so far and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we enter this next phase of the development.”

From May 5, the nearest Lidl store for Eastbourne residents will be in Dittons Road, Polegate.
