Crawley entrepreneur says 'anyone can dream big' after being featured in British Vogue and winning prestigious award

Rumcy Supra launched Supra Design just before lockdown in 2020 and it has been such a success the 29-year-old wants to inspire other women and individuals in business.

Despite the challenging times, Supra Design was recognised by editorials such as British Vogue and Prestigious awards.

Supra Design, which is based in Gossops Green, offers private and business clients in the residential, restaurant and boutique hotel industries interior architecture service.

Rumcy, who lived in Southgate for two years before settling in Gossops Green, said: “In simple words, our services are where luxury and innovation meet design.

“Luxury for me means comfort and elegant living, and innovation is about technology and sustainable living advancement implemented into the spatial design for a healthy lifestyle or to stay ahead in the business industry.”

Rumcy was and raised in Denmark, with her parents are from India and Sri Lanka, and she moved to Crawley at the age of nine.

“Being surrounded by different cultures, communities and exposed to different lifestyles, it was hard not to be creative – It’s also where I get my inspiration from,” she said.

“Whilst I worked for a high-end interior design firm in Surrey as a junior interior designer, I managed my projects and saw a gap in the market. After research and 5 years of industry experience. I found the courage to run my own company - Supra Design.”

And the former Hazelwick pupil is very proud of what she has achieved.

“I work in an industry filled with patriarchy,” she said.

“For a South Asian female starting young, it wasn’t easy. However, resilience and consistency are what kept me and my business going. Despite the challenges and COVID 19, Supra Design was featured in The British Vogue and awarded the Best Interior Architecture and Design company in South England by Prestige Awards.

“It proves anyone can dream big.”
