According to plans submitted to Wealden District Council, Natewood Farm on Polegate Road will be demolished.

The plans reveal that the site contains a collection of farm buildings and they are currently unoccupied or rented to various businesses for commercial use.

An inspection carried out showed that asbestos cement sheets are a ‘common feature’ in the buildings. Out of 10 building material samples tested, nine contained asbestos, the plans say.

The demolition will make way for ‘consented commercial units’, according to the documents, but no further details are disclosed about future plans for the site at the moment.

If approved, work is expected to start February 11 and should take a month, plans say.
