The property on Cavendish Place, which used to be the Suck My Ink tattoo studio, has submitted planning permission to reconfigure the ground floor to create a studio flat at the front and a one-bed flat at the back through building a rear extension.

The next door property has a similar rear extension for a ground-floor flat, plans say.

The plans would replace the shop front with access for the studio flat, and the one-bed flat at the back would use the same existing entrance as the current first-floor flat.

Documents say the site sits within a parade of shops including a pharmacy, takeaway and beautician.

The developers say ‘it will make efficient use of the space available’ and ‘will contribute to the borough housing numbers in this sustainable town centre location’.

Members of the public can comment on the plans until April 22.
