Helping to bridge staff shortages

StaffShare, an online skill exchange scheme being launched next week by West Sussex County Council, will help local businesses meet temporary staff shortages, bridge skills gaps and save money.

The county council is piloting a new social enterprise initiative to level out employment peaks and troughs.

StaffShare connects employers to secondment candidates in other public and private sector organisations.

Louise Goldsmith, County Council Leader, said: “The scheme helps businesses cut costs by finding temporary secondments for employees.

“All parties gain with StaffShare. This is because the current employer temporarily cuts employment overheads, the recruiting employer gets valuable skills at lower recruitment cost and the seconded employee gets a rewarding career development opportunity.”

The scheme is supported nationally by organisations such as the Cabinet Office, Royal Mail, ACAS, Veolia Europe, the TUC and Skills South East.

StaffShare will be launched on Thursday June 2 at County Hall North, Chart Way, Horsham, RH12 1XH, between 2.30pm-5.30pm.
