The City Grocer, owned by Daryl Bowen, was one of three pop-up shops to open in North Street last year.

In an announcement on its Facebook page, the business said it had been unable to negotiate, with the landlord and the estate agent, a future for the grocery in the current location. The owner hopes to find another property to continue but, due to 'rising costs' on trading on the high street, he is 'unsure of when this will be'.

"Our last trading day will be Saturday, February 15. We thank all our customers and suppliers who have understood our aim and helped us to provide the community with local and seasonal produce. We have supported over 20 local producers through the shop and we wish them all luck in the future.

"We would urge that everyone continues to support local, small independents [and] be mindful of where and how you spend your money. The landscape of all high streets is changing and as we, as customers, can help this, as can everyone."
