Lewes house prices: These are the areas where prices rose and fell most in the last year

The coronavirus pandemic caused an unprecedented economic shock in the UK, closing businesses and putting people out of work left, right and centre.

But despite that, average house prices held up across England – even if there was a drop in sales.

It was the same picture in Lewes where prices rose by two per cent overall in the year to September 2020.

The ONS also publishes house price figures by Middle Layer Super Output Areas (MSOAs) – small geographic areas containing an average of 7,200 people.

These show that seven of the 13 MSOAs that make up Lewes saw a rise in house prices over the same period.

Here we reveal which neighbourhoods saw the strongest growth in the year to September 2020:

1. Chailey, Newick & Barcombe saw the biggest price hike, with the average price rising by 11.9 per cent to £532,361 in the year to September 2020

2. Second was Lewes Central & East, where the average house price rose to £422,668 – a rise of 10.7 per cent

3. In Wivelsfield Green, Ditchling & Rodmell, the average house price rose by 5.9 per cent to £543,905

4. Lewes West saw a rise of 5.3 per cent, to £544,413

5. In Peacehaven East, the average house price rose by 3.4 per cent to £299,772

6. East Blatchington saw house prices rise three per cent to an average of £368,887

7. Newhaven Town saw prices rise by 2.4 per cent to £266,040

8. In Newhaven West, prices fell by 0.3 per cent – to an average of £242,129

9. Peacehaven West saw prices fall by 0.8 per cent to £287,198

10. In Seaford Town, prices fell by 2.3 per cent to £272,813

11. Ringmer, Glynde & South Heighton saw a fall of 3.5 per cent to give an average price of £428,435

12. In East Saltdean & Telscombe Cliffs, prices fell by 6.8 per cent to £323,327

13. Seaford Eastbourne Road saw the biggest drop in price – by 8.3 per cent to an average of £345,151
